Starting A New Journey: Joining Rebuild

duda • February 26, 2025
It has been just over a year since I joined Rebuild, but it feels like I have been here a lot longer. I had no crossfit experience coming into the gym, so it was a learning curve for me. What the hell is an EMOM?! Haha.
Sean and James saw I had good knowledge of Olympic lifting, I’m studying exercise physiology and I have a can-do attitude, so they took me on and showed me the ropes. Literally; they showed me how to climb a rope.
It was quite scary for me to apply to Rebuild, I felt like I needed a new job. I am sure many people can relate to feeling a sense of loyalty and security in a job they may like but not love.
That was how I felt in my old job, I enjoyed it but deep down I knew I wanted something new. I think it’s good to do things that scare me and before I knew it, Sean and James interviewed me and I was in the Rebuild family. Quitting my old job was difficult; my previous boss took me from a beginner and helped me grow into a very good coach, I will forever be grateful to him but I was ready to leave the nest.
Studying clinical exercise physiology has helped in developing my knowledge as a practitioner but as many people will know, the real world is quite different to university. Working at Rebuild is an amazing place to work on my real world skills, helping people and communicating ideas to improve someones performance or decrease pain.
Situation like this can be hard, you feel like you should stay where you are but you know that you need to spread your wings and move to new places.

It's getting hot! And hydration one of the most critical factors for performance, especially in high temperatures or intense training environments. Staying adequately hydrated keeps the body cool, supports muscle function, and even improves endurance. Yet, it’s not as simple as drinking water alone. In fact, water alone may not be enough to sustain top performance, especially during prolonged or high-intensity sessions. Here’s where electrolytes, like those found in Trainaide, become essential for both performance and safety. Why Electrolytes Matter in Hydration Electrolytes are minerals that carry an electric charge, like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. These help ....

Having fun in training is more than just a feel-good factor; it’s essential for long-term success and performance. When we enjoy what we’re doing, our brains release dopamine and endorphins, which not only elevate mood but also improve motivation, reward circuits, and even memory. Research in exercise psychology shows that people who find pleasure in their workouts are more likely to maintain consistent habits, as the positive associations reinforce their commitment and resilience over time. From a physiological standpoint, enjoyment in training reduces the perception of effort, meaning we’re likely to push harder without even realising it. This is partly due to a ....
